Premarket Market Brief: Friday, October 23, 2026

The latest signed, complete U.S. cash session was Thursday, October 22. From October 1 through October 22, $DIA gained 3.79%, $SPY fell 0.39%, $IWM fell 0.84% and $QQQ fell 5.06%. These are unadjusted close returns, not total returns, breadth, flows or causal attribution. No signed October 23 futures, consolidated premarket quote, extended-hours benchmark bar or opening forecast was returned.

No signed October 23 premarket or futures snapshot was captured. The fixed research priority remains 1 Energy, 2 Materials, 3 Technology, 4 Industrials: $XLE and $XLB lead the fixed slots near resistance; $XLK is the weakest slot after a support break; and $XLI remains bearish near support. The accepted package does not validate current issuer-level operating metrics or broad constituent participation. Consumer Staples and Health Care are broader-tape context, but no fixed sector slot is removed or exchanged.

The macro evidence is current but bounded rather than a complete live regime call. The official October 22 H.15 release reports data through October 21: effective fed funds 3.88%, 2-year nominal Treasury 4.81%, 10-year 5.13%, 30-year 5.42%, 10-year real 2.76% and 30-year real 3.15%. October 22 SOFR was 3.90% on $2,945 billion of volume, versus 3.88% and $2,942 billion on October 21. This supports elevated nominal and real yields without a funding-break conclusion; reserves, deposits, lending standards and current credit spreads were not captured.

The last signed option-chain estimate is available only for $SPY: aggregate net gamma is −$493.10M with 75.14% coverage across October 28–30 expirations. The scan was fetched October 22 and was not refreshed for October 23. The accepted package did not scan $QQQ or $XLE; their existing ladder slots remain historical continuity only, not current option observations. Gamma is an open-interest estimate, not observed dealer positioning or live flow; selected $SPY ladder rows reported low or zero displayed volume, coverage is incomplete, and missing rows are not zero-filled. The October 22 EIA release reports October 16 working gas at 3,644 Bcf, a 77 Bcf injection, 152 Bcf below year-ago levels and 35 Bcf above the five-year average. Options positioning incomplete open-interest estimates

The last signed option-chain estimate is available only for $SPY in the accepted package. The three existing chart slots retain their baseline strike identities for continuity; the $SPY slot is the October 22 estimate carried as stale context, while the $QQQ and $XLE slots are explicitly historical because those scans were not returned. Aggregate gamma is an open-interest estimate, not observed dealer positioning or live flow, and is not financial advice. Selected $SPY ladder rows reported low or zero displayed volume. The last signed $SPY scan was fetched October 22, 2026 and was not refreshed for October 23.
