Premarket Market Brief: Friday, October 30, 2026

The latest signed, complete U.S. cash session was Thursday, October 29. From October 1 through October 29, $DIA gained 2.77%, $SPY gained 0.70%, $IWM gained 1.79% and $QQQ fell 3.60%. These are unadjusted close returns, not total returns, breadth, flows or causal attribution. A timestamped secondary overnight snapshot showed technology-heavy weakness, but no signed October 30 futures, premarket or extended-hours quote was returned.

The fixed research priority remains 1 Energy, 2 Materials, 3 Technology, 4 Industrials: $XLE gained 9.59% over the window and sits near 69.86 resistance, $XLB gained 8.22% with RSI 89.14 and an active breakout trigger, $XLK fell 4.59% and remains below its short averages, and $XLI gained 0.88% in a compressed range. $USO gained 12.11% and $TLT 4.86% over the window, while $GLD fell 3.71%. Current oil inventories, crude-curve confirmation, sector breadth, issuer metrics and direct flows remain incomplete.

The macro evidence is current but bounded rather than a complete live regime call. Official October 28 data report 2-year nominal 4.67%, 10-year 5.05%, 30-year 5.37%, 10-year real 2.67% and 30-year real 3.10%; October 28 SOFR was 3.94% on $3.074 trillion of volume. The October 28 FOMC held the target range at 3.75%–4.00% by 10–2, with two members preferring a 25 bp hike. The BLS calendar schedules the Employment Cost Index for 08:30 ET on October 30, and EIA gas storage was 3,724 Bcf after an 80 Bcf injection. This supports elevated nominal and real-rate pressure without a funding-break conclusion.

The options section preserves all three established ladders, but the accepted package contains only the last signed $SPY open-interest estimate from October 22: net gamma −$493.10M at 75.14% coverage, with 760 and 780 wall context. $QQQ and $XLE were not refreshed. These are open-interest estimates, not observed dealer positioning or live flow, and no trade instruction is implied.

Options positioning incomplete open-interest estimates

The three retained option chart slots preserve their baseline strike identities. The last signed $SPY scan is dated October 22 and is carried with an explicit stale-data caveat; current $QQQ and $XLE scans were unavailable. No ladder supports a live-flow, dealer-positioning or directional conclusion.
