Global data-center and GPU capacity monitor

As of 21 August 2026, the evidence supports a large but non-additive global pipeline rather than one defensible capacity total. The strongest demand anchors are 415 TWh of global facility electricity use in 2024, rising to about 945 TWh in 2030 , and 176 TWh of US data-center electricity use in 2023, with 325–580 TWh forecast for 2028 ; these are annual facility-energy estimates, not IT-load MW. IEA, LBNL

At project level, the most material signals include Meta Hyperion’s 5 GW compute plan, SINES’ 1.2 GW secured IT capacity , Crusoe Abilene’s 1.2 GW facility grid envelope , Applied Digital’s 400 MW contracted critical-IT load , and xAI’s more than 220,000 reported NVIDIA GPUs . Meta, SINES, Crusoe, Applied Digital, xAI They remain separated by stage and capacity boundary: announced, planned, contracted, energized, utility, generation, PPA, and program figures are not summed. GPU product availability is visible across NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Google, AWS, and Microsoft ecosystems, but no audited global installed-GPU total or broadly comparable purchase price is public in this evidence set.
