K-5 Classroom Reading List and Progress Measures

Use a grade tab as a classroom planning menu for stories and information. Each grade lists four source-linked titles, one active primary reading-progress measure, and a required companion classroom check for meaning-making. Optional standardized supplements remain subject to the adopted local plan. Grade is a standards-and-task reference, not a book level or a permanent label.

This U.S. Kindergarten–Grade 5 planning menu uses the Common Core State Standards provisionally because no state or district framework was specified. The grade labels describe standards and instructional tasks; they are not exact book-level assignments. Each brief measure samples a reading component and must be paired with the required companion classroom check for meaning-making. The four-title-per-grade inventory is bounded and non-comprehensive; local staff should add a vetted poem, play, or other text form when a unit requires it.
